Map My Commute

Find your ideal place to live based on commute time.

As workers increasingly split their time between home and the office, longer (but less frequent) commutes are beginning to look more attractive.

Our tool allows you to measure up the length of a commute against the property price for different regions of the UK. Could flexible working arrangements help you secure your dream property?

This data was correct as of 26 September 2022.

Find your ideal location

With the rise of remote and hybrid working, the daily commute is becoming a thing of the past. Many workers are taking the opportunity to move further afield.

This tool lets you identify places to live based on a target commute time. You can also find out how much more property you can get for your money in exchange for a few minutes of extra travel.

Better value

Take Redhill, a popular commuter town for London workers. The journey into work takes half an hour, and the average cost of a home is £435k. Compare that to Peterborough in Cambridgeshire where the commute is longer at 54 minutes, but property prices average just £258k.

House prices are for the last 12 months from Zoopla and have been rounded up to the nearest £1,000. These are correct as of 2 September 2022.

Changing working patterns

The COVID-19 pandemic changed the way millions of us work. With fewer people commuting into a single place of work five days per week, moving further away from a single place of work and commuting in less regularly makes sense for more and more workers. Could you be one of them?
