Who is Emergency Assist?

Emergency Assist is an independent provider of breakdown cover to customers within the UK. It was established in 2017.

What services does Emergency Assist offer?

Emergency Assist specialises in breakdown cover only and offers a variety of levels of cover.

How does breakdown cover work?

Breakdown cover, such as that offered by Emergency Assist, is basically an insurance policy that is taken out in advance of a breakdown and renewed annually to ensure continual coverage. Breakdown cover is not designed to be taken out in the event of a breakdown as policies rarely kick in until at least 24 hours after the policy is taken out.

What types of breakdown cover does Emergency Assist provide?

There are a variety of different levels of cover available from Emergency Assist. Which one you choose will depend on which level of cover you feel will best support your driving requirements and lifestyle.

The specifics of each level will vary depending on your agreement with Emergency Assist but the service is generally offered at three different tiers:

  • Saver Cover: At the entry level of cover you could receive a package that offered roadside assistance if you break down within 25 miles of your home, but further than a mile from home. You are also likely to benefit from recovery to a garage within 25 miles if the problem cannot be fixed at the roadside.
  • Premium Cover: As a middle level of service you could expect the same services as in entry level but you are also likely to benefit from recovery to any UK destination and roadside assistance or recovery if your car won’t start at home or breaks down within a quarter of a mile of your home. You should also receive cover for the cost of continuing the onward journey for the driver and up to four passengers if the problem with the vehicle cannot be fixed within the day. If an overnight stay is necessary, the cost of this can be covered by the policy.
  • Complete Cover : t the top end of cover, you should be looking at all of the services listed above, as well as roadside assistance and recovery services within any EU country, Norway and Switzerland.
