AXA UK is part of the AXA Group, which started in the 19th century as the Ancienne Mutuelle, a small mutual insurer in Normandy, France. It wasn’t until the 1970s that the company started to become more than a provincial insurer, with Claude Bébéar taking on the role of CEO in 1975. After acquiring several firms, the AXA name and brand was created in 1985. AXA expanded to become one of the major insurance firms in France, and later across the globe. The UK AXA company was incorporated in 1994 and continues to offer a range of insurance policies, including home, travel, business, and car insurance.

AXA car insurance offers the three main insurance types: third party; third party, fire and theft; and comprehensive cover. Third party, fire and theft insurance policies offer some additional features which may include European cover (for a certain number of days), use of a courtesy car, and replacement keys or locks if your car keys are stolen. AXA’s comprehensive car insurance policies offer even more benefits and may include windscreen repair and cover for if you put the wrong fuel in your car.

For households with more than one car registered at an address, AXA offers a multicar discount. When one car takes out AXA insurance, any additional cars who insure with AXA can receive a discount whilst keeping their own separate policy.
