MotorEasy Car Warranty FAQ

Who is MotorEasy?

MotorEasy provides car warranty products, as well as other products that can help protect drivers from unexpected large bills, such as GAP insurance, car servicing and MOT policies and breakdown cover. It has been in operation since the mid-Nineties and was founded by Duncan McClure Fisher.

What products does MotorEasy provide?

You can purchase used car warranties and new car warranties from MotorEasy. It also provides a range of other car cover products, such as GAP insurance, as well as servicing and MOTs.

What’s the difference between new car warranties and used car warranties?

The type of car warranty you will need to take out depends on whether you have purchased a second-hand car, own an older car or want to extend your manufacturer’s warranty. Each policy is different, but all MotorEasy car warranties typically cover the following as standard: air cooling systems, wear and tear, overheating, recovery, satnav, emissions failures, in-car entertainment, and failures identified during a MOT or service inspection.

You can opt to top-up an existing car warranty policy with an extra policy from MotorEasy, if, for example, you have purchased a used car and the dealership provided you with a very basic car warranty.

Will I have to pay the garage myself and reclaim the cash from MotorEasy?

No, MotorEasy engineers will usually deal directly with the garage on your behalf and will pay the bills providing the failures are covered under your policy.

Does MotorEasy offer different levels of cover?

Yes, they offer three levels of cover (A,B and C), each providing cover for a different number of issues that might present a costly problem to drivers of cars that are no longer covered by their manufacturer’s warranties. The policies each last for either one, two or three years and differ in terms of factors like claim limits.

Are there are any general exclusions that apply to MotorEasy car warranties?

Yes and these will vary depending on whether you opt for a new car warranty or a used car warranty. For new cars, for example, you may struggle to find policies that cover things that are deemed perishable, which you would be expected to replace at regular intervals, such as tyres.

Will I need to show a full service history to qualify for a MotorEasy car warranty?

Not necessarily. The business’s website says that drivers will need to show that they have had their car serviced in the past year. If this is not possible, MotorEasy may still be able to arrange a discounted car service for you.

Can I contribute to some of the cost of work carried out to reduce my policy cost?

Yes, you may be able to volunteer to cover a percentage of the cost of any repairs in order to bring down the cost of the policy in general.

Can I get a quote online?

Yes, you can check how much it would cost to purchase a car warranty with MotorEasy through their website. You may also be able to opt to cover yourself straight away, providing your car fits the criteria.
